About Meshuga 4 Sushi:
Meshuga 4 Sushi was founded by Yankee Bloch, whose lifelong passion for fishing and love of fresh tuna inspired the restaurant’s story. The name “Meshuga” — Yiddish for “crazy” — perfectly reflects Yankee’s enthusiasm for chasing yellowfin tuna off the coast of Mexico, a pursuit he continues to this day.
The spark for Meshuga 4 Sushi began in the summer of 2002, when Yankee and his sons embarked on a memorable trip to La Paz, Mexico. After reeling in massive yellowfin tuna, each weighing over 120 pounds, Yankee tasted a piece of pristine toro (tuna belly) straight from the catch, dipped in the salty ocean water. It was the freshest, most unforgettable bite of tuna he had ever experienced — and in that moment, he realized all it needed was a touch of wasabi.
That experience became the foundation for Meshuga 4 Sushi, which opened its doors in 2011. Since then, the restaurant has been dedicated to bringing the same sense of freshness, joy, and adventure to every guest.
Fresh sushi remains the centerpiece of Meshuga 4 Sushi’s daily mission. To this day, the Bloch family is truly “Meshuga 4 Sushi” — and they believe once you visit, you will be too.
